First things first — who the fuck let him near guns?!?!?!?!?!???!
We all know about Joey Barton’s long history as an awul person, but it’s starting to look like he’s becoming a new man — one who doesn’t use teammate’s eyeballs as ashtrays or go to jail for fighting outside a McDonald’s.
The Daily Mail had a piece yesterday about a good deed that you probably didn’t think Barton was capable of:
| Daily Mail wrote: |
Barton wrote out a cheque for £20,000 to purchase the much-needed transport for Sporting Chance, the Hampshire clinic established by former Arsenal great Tony Adams — who recovered from alcoholism — to aid sports people beat destructive addictions.
Barton credits Sporting Chance with keeping him off the drink for nearly two years as well as dealing with his anger management issues. Part of the terms of his release in July 2008, after serving 74 days of a six-month prison sentence for assault and affray, was that he spent time at the clinic run by Peter Kay, who has been a mentor of Barton’s since 2005. |
All this comes on the heels of Barton announcing that he has said sorry for arguing with Newcastle manager Chris Hughton the night before the first game of the season and also proclaimed his respect for former manager Alan Shearer, whom he called “a prick” and a “crap manager” towards the end of last season. Not to mention the fact that he actually stayed on with the club, despite its relegation.
Oh, and I’m also assuming that he didn’t use any of those guns in the above picture to shoot the photographer in the face 57 times.
So is this the beginning of a new chapter in Joey Barton’s life as a decent human being? Perhaps.
But I still feel like I might get a shotgun blast to the spine as soon as I turn my back on that picture, though. .. _________________

| Great of him to have a second chance, most of us stumble through life with one chance at not being a complete twat and most of us manage it pretty well (i didn't say me lol!). The fact that he needed a cuddle and for someone to tell him that his behaviour was appalling does not change the fact that he is a complete waste of air.... |
