Views Of The Blues - Part Two We asked the Joys And Sorrows users to do a post game questionnaire and they duly obliged.
From Moza.
Who was your man of the match? (1 player from both sides)
Barry, he ran himself into the ground and erm... I don't think I can pick one out for us. Forss maybe. :/
When did you feel that you could win the game?
When we equalised and with all that pressure afterwards.
When did you feel that you were going to lose?
When Agbonlahor scored. :roll
Which players let the occasion get to them?
Not sure.
How did you rate the atmosphere compared to previous blues vs villa games?
My first one, so I can't compare. Back of the Tilton was pretty electric though, especially when we scored.
Will the trouble outside the ground put you off going to Villa Park for the return fixture?
I was slightly put off in the first place, seeing it after has put me off that little bit more.
What will the score be in that one?
Depends what goes on in the January window, I feel.
Did the scoreline reflect the the performance by both teams?
Vile had the better of the first. We had the better of the second. Logic says it should have been a draw.
Which villa player/s impressed you the most? Nod
Ashley Young.
Should Forsell have come on earlier? or even started?
Started in a 4-4-2.
After seeing first hand the abilities of Villa going forward, how do you think we will fair going through the season?
8th/9th. I've never doubted Villa's ability going forward, though.
What is you take on the De Ridder "dive"?
He was definitely 'clipped'. But made a meal of it which didn't help his cause.
Who was the worst player on the day?
De Ridd, possibly, wasn't paying real attention to the Villa.

From Kaje.
Who was your man of the match? (1 player from both sides)
Blues: It's a toughie, but perhaps Nafti who seemed to really put the pressure on the Villa midfield and often came back to help defend. Especially when Djourou was off the field for a prolonged period.
Villa: Ashley Young - he never stopped running and always looked threatening down that left side.
When did you feel that you could win the game?
During the first 10-15 minutes when it was all pretty much one way traffic from Blues. We should have scored at least one of the chances to pull away from you early on.
When did you feel that you were going to lose?
As soon as Ridgewell scored the own goal, it just felt like it wouldn't be our day at all.
Which players let the occasion get to them?
Palacios - but for reasons not really relating to the derby
Jerome - I really didn't think he was as good as some people on here say he was. He just never really looked like scoring.
Ridgewell - it was always going to be tough for him, but not as tough as he made it himself.
How did you rate the atmosphere compared to previous blues vs villa games?
I was stuck infront of the TV unfortunately, so couldn't gauge the atmosphere too well. But it seemed 'fairly' passionate, with both sets of fans singing.
Will the trouble outside the ground put you off going to Villa Park for the return fixture?
I was at Villa Park for the away match in our first season up a few years ago and it put me off. There was more trouble than I've ever seen outside St. Andrews and I saw children being pelted with bottles by Villa 'fans'. I've also noticed a letter from a Villa fan stating he/she was pelted with missiles and bottles of 'urine' on Sunday - at Villa Park I actually witnessed a Villa 'fan' unzip his trousers and urinate on a section of the travelling Blues lot in the block next to where I was. I won't be returning.
What will the score be in that one?
Hopefully it will be a win for Blues. It all depends on how well we spend whatever cash we're given in January. We really need a new striker and to start playing 4-4-2. If that happens, perhaps a 2-1 reversal.
Did the scoreline reflect the the performance by both teams?
No, I genuinely thought that a draw would have been a fairer result. Both managers have said it, many fans of both sides have said it and I feel if it hadn't have been for a couple of individual errors, it may have been.
Which villa player/s impressed you the most?
Ashley Young - as I said earlier, he looked a real threat down the left hand side which is something we lacked.
Should Forsell have come on earlier? or even started?
He should have started alongside Jerome. I couldn't understand why he didn't as he's been scoring freely in his last two or three 'reserve' games. Now I know 'reserve' games aren't up to the standard of first team matches, but a hattrick is a hattrick against anyone - and Forse apparently scored two in three. Including in a 'behind closed doors' match against Villa last week.
After seeing first hand the abilities of Villa going forward, how do you think we will fair going through the season?
I'm not too sure there was much to judge your 'going forward' on. One goal was a Ridgewell mistake, the other was a good cross, a good header, but a rooted Maik Taylor. I thought Carew looked very 'off the pace' and Abonglahor only looked a real threat on two occasions, one of which resulted in the final goal. I'd need to see more before I pass judgement, but I'd say a mid-table finish is likely. 10th.
What is you take on the De Ridder "dive"?
It certainly wasn't a dive. The more I watch the replay, the more I notice BOTH of his feet being clipped just enough for him to totally lose his balance and go to ground. From a purely physiological point of view, it would have certainly taken him out of his stride and gravity did the rest.
Who was the worst player on the day?
I wasn't impressed with many of the Blues lot to be honest, but I think Reo-Coker takes the title with his glaring miss. He'd fit into the Blues side quite well......

Who was your man of the match? (1 player from both sides)
Jerome/Forssell for us - Jerome ran like mad until he went off, Forssell changed the game when he came on.
For Vile - Agbonlahor - Jammy Git.
When did you feel that you could win the game?
As soon as we scored it looked as if there was only going to be one winner - Us.
When did you feel that you were going to lose?
When you scored the second.
Which players let the occasion get to them?
Palacios - A lot going on for him.
How did you rate the atmosphere compared to previous blues vs villa games?
Really good I thought - Nothing will ever beat the first ever derby though.
Will the trouble outside the ground put you off going to Villa Park for the return fixture?
Nope - I'll be there.
What will the score be in that one?
Not sure, but we will return with our revenge.
Did the scoreline reflect the the performance by both teams?
Simply, no.
Which villa player/s impressed you the most?
Young, Agbonlahor, Fatty Barry.
Should Forsell have come on earlier? or even started?
If we would of been fit enough, yes. If it would of harmed him being avalible for the next few games - Then no.
After seeing first hand the abilities of Villa going forward, how do you think we will fair going through the season?
Mid-Table.
What is you take on the De Ridder "dive"?
It wasn't a dive, there was contact, it was a penalty.
Who was the worst player on the day?
Kapo, for me.

it's 2am and this is a welcome distraction from my studies.Who was your man of the match? (1 player from both sides)
Blues - Struggling with this but I'll go with Jerome
Villa - Barry
When did you feel that you could win the game?
As soon as we scored I thought we'd go onto win it, but 5 mins later you were pressuring us again and I thought it would be a draw.
When did you feel that you were going to lose?
right after we went 2-1 down!
Which players let the occasion get to them?
I think they all handled it quite well actually
How did you rate the atmosphere compared to previous blues vs villa games?
I wasn't there in person as I live in The Netherlands, but it sounded more heated than usual.
Will the trouble outside the ground put you off going to Villa Park for the return fixture?
Nah, I'd love to go.
What will the score be in that one?
I think it'll be a draw.
Did the scoreline reflect the the performance by both teams?
No, it should have been a draw
Which villa player/s impressed you the most?
I'm not gunna praise you lot that much!
Should Forsell have come on earlier? or even started?
We should have gone with 4-4-2 at home to begin with
After seeing first hand the abilities of Villa going forward, how do you think we will fair going through the season?
I think you'll just miss out on Europe as Pompey, Everton and Blackburn all look stronger.
What is you take on the De Ridder "dive"?
It was a penalty imo, but water under the bridge and all that jazz
Who was the worst player on the day?
The scumbag fans who threw bricks

Yours was Agbonlahor for obvious reasons, ours in my opinion was Jerome.
When did you feel that you could win the game?
After we scored our equalising goal I thought we really had you rattled.
When did you feel that you were going to lose?
When you scored your second.
Which players let the occasion get to them?
None of them.
How did you rate the atmosphere compared to previous blues vs villa games?
Electric, wheras the previous atmosphere for the last corresponding fixture at St.Andrews was as flat as a pancake
Will the trouble outside the ground put you off going to Villa Park for the return fixture?
No.
What will the score be in that one?
We'll need to win that probably to help us survive-so a 3-1 defeat.
Did the scoreline reflect the the performance by both teams?
No-a draw would've been fair.
Which villa player/s impressed you the most?
Gareth Barry and Martin Laursen
Should Forsell have come on earlier? or even started?
No. He made the best possible impact he could by coming on at half-time.
After seeing first hand the abilities of Villa going forward, how do you think we will fair going through the season?
Too good for a relegation battle, not quite good enough to fight for a place in Europe
What is you take on the De Ridder "dive"?
It was a blatant penalty-but he should've shot first time anyway.
Who was the worst player on the day?
Olivier Kapo
RyanL23- 11-13-2007
I am still a little confused about the penalty incident, admittedly it did look like Laursen clipped him, but he didn't clip him enough to make him fall over the way he did, that's blatently obvious.

Hitting the ground like he was shot was cheating and negated any original claim he had to a penelty. He was clipped but he could have stayed on his feet. He was blatently trying to sway the refs decision. That's cheating!!!! The original contact did not warrant a penelty imo.
jeezuskrist- 11-14-2007
Which villa player/s impressed you the most?
Young, Agbonlahor, Fatty Barry.
What would you give to have Barry in your side?
He's a class player, him and Petrov worked the midfield well on Sunday, even when you had three in there, they coped with no problem.
Tom- 11-14-2007
It wasn't a penalty - all this talk of 'contact' is crap. It's a contact sport. Look at corner kicks, there's loads of pushing and shoving that goes on. Laursen's boot GRAZED De Ridder's. I expect he barely felt it and no way was it enough to knock him off balance. The Knight handball should have been a penalty imo but De Ridder cheated and got what he deserved, simple as.
cockneyvillain- 11-14-2007
I thought it was a bit harsh by the 2nd one to say ridgewell was one to let the occasion get to him. I thought he played well apart from the goal he scored for us.
Dale- 11-14-2007
The penalty thing is so funny on sky we had Andy Gray stiring it up and Redknapp jumping up and down saying 'definate penawltee' wheras on the BBC Alan Shearer just said 'the referee cant be sure so he couldnt give the penalty decisions' thanks Alan! Bloody sky.
cockneyvillain- 11-14-2007
I get the feeling sometimes that Sky only put us on when they think we might lose!!!
Dale- 11-14-2007
yeah like Doncaster away in the league cup :wank:
cockneyvillain- 11-14-2007
They must've been heartbroken when we did Chelsea!!!
