Middlesbrough Riverside Stadium The Riverside Stadium was first opened back in August 1995 after they left Ayresome Park where they had been since 1903. Outside the ground you will find a pair of statues dedicated to two former Boro greats; George Hardwick & Wilf Mannion, plus the old gate entrances to Ayresome Park in between the statues.
The away fans are in the South Stand, which is up to 3,450 fans, at one end of the stadium which is shared with home supporters but if you are drawn away to Boro in the FA Cup you might be lucky to get all of the stand - an allocation of 6,000.
The best place to get a drink is in the town centre and the ground is about 15-20 minute walk.
Been to The Riverside many times. The ground reminds me of Derby's Pride Park the way its built. Seen us there when we won 0-4, 1-2 and 1-3; all great days but if I had to pick one it would be the 0-4 win.
Its a long way home if you lose but you wouldnt wanna live there thats for sure, dont look a nice place to live.

I've got friends who lives just outside M'boro so I should be careful what I say really ... but yeah, it is a bit of a shithole. :hehe:
The Riverside is a nice enough stadium but it's just in the middle of nowhere. When it was first built, they made promises of masses of pubs, bars, restaurants, shops etc, yet it's still wasteland.
