Boro - The Return
Following on from us asking Boro questions on how they see our game this weekend, they have asked us to do the same and would really appreciate your responses to the following: What do you think the scoreline will be? Which Boro player do you think will cause you problems? Does Gareth Barry deserve to be in the England first team? Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time? How would you assess Agbonlahor's season? Who would you compare Boro with in the Premier League? Would you consider Villa more successful than Boro over the last ten years? What are your views on Doug Ellis? With Learner taking over and Martin O'Neill being appointed, how do you rate his and your progress so far? What is a realistic target for Villa this season? Have you noticed any difference being under "foreign rule"? Thanks in advance

Re: Boro - The Return
What do you think the scoreline will be? 2 - 1 to the villa! Which Boro player do you think will cause you problems? I have a gut feeling Mido will have an influence on the game if fit. Does Gareth Barry deserve to be in the England first team? Hell yeah! There's no denying the England team has looked the best in years with him and Gerrard in the middle. Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time? If MON is still at the club with Randy's backing for the next few years i see us having a squad capable of challenging for the Premiership title for many years. How would you assess Agbonlahor's season? Brilliant, has improved his game so much and is working hard, still alot of work to do but so far he's been outstanding. Who would you compare Boro with in the Premier League? Fulham Would you consider Villa more successful than Boro over the last ten years? I think in all honesty, it comes down to what's the greater achievement, getting to the FA cup final, or getting to the UEFA cup final, for me it has to be the FA Cup, so Villa. But not by too much What are your views on Doug Ellis? I think he took us as far as he wanted too, his shrewd 'old man business style' just doesn't cut it in the Premiership anymore, Im thankful he was able to negotiate the take over with Lerner. But apart from that, there isn't much to say. With Learner taking over and Martin O'Neill being appointed, how do you rate his and your progress so far? Brilliant, if you look at our squad 2years ago, and compare it to today, the squad has improved so much and there is much more depth to it. What is a realistic target for Villa this season? Finishing above 12th, which was where we finished last season, anything else is a bonus for me. Have you noticed any difference being under "foreign rule"? What does this mean? :hehe:

What do you think the scoreline will be? I reckon it'll be 2-1 Villa Which Boro player do you think will cause you problems? I've not seen much of this Adam Johnson lad, but I will go with him Does Gareth Barry deserve to be in the England first team? Yes he does, he is one of the in-form English midfielders in this country at the moment. Frank Lampard nor Steven Gerrard have played consistently as well as Barry has this season and it's a shame he is constantly over looked. Hopefully the new manager will be keeping tabs properly this time. Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time? Realistically I can see us pushing for Europe, but it all depends on how we invest in our squad and if it still continues to grow over the 10 years. But with MON in and Randy in I can see us being there or there abouts. How would you assess Agbonlahor's season? Brilliant, much better than last year. He is proving himself to be a big game player grabbing the opener against Man Utd, the winner against Chelsea and the winner in the Birmingham derby. I personally don't think he has put a foot wrong this year and hope he continues in the same vein of form he has been showing this early on. Who would you compare Boro with in the Premier League? Fulham Would you consider Villa more successful than Boro over the last ten years? I would say its rather equal to be fair, with perhaps Boro having the edge because of the League Cup win and the appearance in the UEFA cup final. We have just under achieved majorly. What are your views on Doug Ellis? He wasn't bad but he wasn't the best. He out stayed his welcome many years ago and just wouldn't let go. Although he will be forever remebered for his last act at the club, getting MON in as manager  With Lerner taking over and Martin O'Neill being appointed, how do you rate his and your progress so far? It's steady progress, we are still rebuilding after many years of under achievement coupled with having many millions of pounds worth of dead wood at the club. MON has cleared that out now and is building is own squad with an English core. Randy has just been excellent, the way he and his board will communicate with the fans is unbelieveable. The investment in a new £13m training complex that is up there with Chelsea and Man United is a major attraction for us signing new players and is the sort of chairman we have been crying out for. If this continues in the same way I can't see why we won't be competing for bigger things in the next 5 years. What is a realistic target for Villa this season? 7th - 9th finish Have you noticed any difference being under "foreign rule"? Yes. They have a great way of dealing with the fans and are more than happy to communicate with us. What more could you ask for?

What do you think the scoreline will be? 0-2 villa Which Boro player do you think will cause you problems? if fit, mido or adeadeadeadeadeadeadeaire Does Gareth Barry deserve to be in the England first team? No doubt, of course he does. His performances for England have been outstanding along side Stevie G Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time? Champions League How would you assess Agbonlahor's season? He just seems to get better with every game. Have been waiting a long time for him to come up through the ranks, he's not dissapointed! Who would you compare Boro with in the Premier League? Fulham Would you consider Villa more successful than Boro over the last ten years? Honestly, not really. What are your views on Doug Ellis? Thankfull for what he did for the club, but he needed to move on With Learner taking over and Martin O'Neill being appointed, how do you rate his and your progress so far? They have revitalised the club on ALL levels, not just on the pitch. Sales, marketing, fan relations etc... The club is being run very profesionally. There is still a long way to go but the foundations have been laid! What is a realistic target for Villa this season? Pushing for a uefa cup spot Have you noticed any difference being under "foreign rule"? yeah, things are being done properly!

Re: Boro - The Return
What do you think the scoreline will be? I'll be positive and go with Boro 1 Villa 2. Which Boro player do you think will cause you problems? On paper, no one should. :o Does Gareth Barry deserve to be in the England first team? Absolutely. He's playing superbly week in week out and his performances for England have all been quality. His partnership with Gerrard is exactly what England need. Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time? Consistently being a top 5 side competing for cup honours and playing in Europe every season, with the ability to attract world class signings. How would you assess Agbonlahor's season? He's playing exceptionally well, I hope he lasts the course and doesn't tire out. Potentially, he could be a world class player within a few years and obviously scoring against Birmingham makes him an immediate hero. Who would you compare Boro with in the Premier League? I guess Fulham or (sorry) Sunderland. Would you consider Villa more successful than Boro over the last ten years? UEFA Cup Final is pretty good going, and is it 3 League Cup Finals? But also relegation. Whereas for us, its just the FA Cup Final, which we lost ... a few good seasons and a few shit ones. Boro and Villa have had similar problems with poor managers and signings, though I think we just edge that one with David O'Leary. Overall, I guess no, we haven't been as successful in the last 10 year period. What are your views on Doug Ellis? I think Doug loved the club in his own way but at the end of the day, he was an old man. Times moved on and he, unfortunately, didn't. He left us in a good position with a good manager and excellent prospects for the future so I thank him for what he did, but I'm very pleased and very relieved that he left when he did. With Lerner taking over and Martin O'Neill being appointed, how do you rate his and your progress so far? It's all good and I feel very positive about the future. O'Neill is an excellent manager, he has the potential of being our best ever manager. He's building a new squad and it will take time and patience from the supporters, but I'm 100% convinced he'll get us to where we want to be. Considering when O'Neill took over, we were close to relegation, he has done wonders. The team spirit at the club now is at a really high level and the atmosphere at games is reminiscent of the 80s. What is a realistic target for Villa this season? I'd say 10th but obviously anything higher would be a bonus. Have you noticed any difference being under "foreign rule"? Yes, but all for the better. Americans are great at PR. Their treatment of the supporters has been nothing short of superb. The supporters were completely overlooked and ignored under the old regime. The difference in the last 2 years is startling.

Re: Boro - The Return
What do you think the scoreline will be? Villa will win 3-0 Which Boro player do you think will cause you problems? Juninho or Ravenelli Does Gareth Barry deserve to be in the England first team? Probably. He has played the midfield role as well as anybody else for England so why not? Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time? In the newly formed European Super League. You heard it here first! How would you assess Agbonlahor's season? Exellent prospect who needs to be careful not to get ahead of himself. Could do with a rest now and again IMO but honestly, if his progression is handled well then anything is possible. Who would you compare Boro with in the Premier League? Over the past couple of years I suppose Blackburn were a good comparison but over the last 18 months both sides have moved in different directions. Birmingham City are your nearest rivals now I guess. Would you consider Villa more successful than Boro over the last ten years? No. Don't be silly. What are your views on Doug Ellis? Doug who? With Lerner taking over and Martin O'Neill being appointed, how do you rate his and your progress so far? The team looks fresh and vibrant with a Young English contingent (don't know if that is good or bad?). The football is better to watch and the club feels as if its moving forward rather than standing stagnant as it had felt for the previous 10 years. What is a realistic target for Villa this season? UEFA qualification Have you noticed any difference being under "foreign rule"? Americans are foreign :!:

What do you think the scoreline will be? 2-0 to Villa Which Boro player do you think will cause you problems? Mido Does Gareth Barry deserve to be in the England first team? Absolutly. Wish he had an irish granny. Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time? Top 4 at least How would you assess Agbonlahor's season? Brilliant. And plenty more to come from the young ace Who would you compare Boro with in the Premier League? Newcastle. Underachieving for years now Would you consider Villa more successful than Boro over the last ten years? I would have to say yes What are your views on Doug Ellis? Not very fond of him while he was here but he took great measures to ensure the club ended up in the right hands and now we couldn't be happier With Learner taking over and Martin O'Neill being appointed, how do you rate his and your progress so far? We all know it's not a shake the magic wand and miracles happen kinda job. Were making steady progress on and off the pitch What is a realistic target for Villa this season? Uefa spot Have you noticed any difference being under "foreign rule"? Marketing and other aspects off the pitch are going in new and better directions. On the pitch the only thing that's changing is the quality Up the Villa!!!!!!!

What do you think the score will be? 2-0 to Villa Which Boro player do you think will cause the most problems? Downing if he plays because we have no proper right back Does Gareth Barry deserve to be in the England team? Yes Where do you see yourselves in 10 years time? Part of the big 5!!! How do you assess Agbonlahors season? Fantastic so far Who would you compare Boro with in the Premier League? Derby until Southgate goes I'm afraid Would you consider Villa more successful over the last 10 years? Just What are your views on Doug Ellis? I thought he was a skinflint but he kept us in the black. I also thought him very arrogant to name a stand after himself With Lerner taking over, and Martin O'neill being appointed, how do you rate his progress so far? Doing ok so far, not great but i'm impatient What is a realistic target for Villa this season? 6th-8th Have you noticed a difference being under foreign rule? Yeah they seem to respect us fans alittle more
